Sakthi Fine Arts is a registered academy in Singapore for teaching Bharatanatyam and dedicated to promote art and culture through teaching, artistic collaboration and performances. With the structured learning curriculum, the school gives an opportunity to learn and explore dance and to make this art form an integral part of the ethnic scene and accessible to all the art enthusiasts in the community. The school is committed to maintaining the cultural and aesthetic sensibilities of Bharatanatyam.

Sakthi Fine Arts was founded by Shri. Ramu Karuppiah and Smt. Devi Veerappan Karuppiah in 2012 with an objective to promote Indian Classical Dance – Bharatanatyam for both children and adult students. Through its quality standard, Sakthi Fine Arts has cultivated an interest in Indian tradition and heritage among kids, teens, and adults in Singapore.
Smt. Devi is the Director of her Classical Dance Academy Sakthi Fine Arts. Devi began her formal training in Bharatanatyam at the age of 5 years under Smt. Madhavi Chandrasekharan at Sri Madhavi Bharathanatyalaya, Trichy, India. Her intensive training of adavus in Kalashestra style for more than 7 years helped as a strong foundation. She pursue her dance under Guru. Kalaimamani Dr. M.S. Sarala (A senior disciple of Padmabhusan. Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam) at Karaikudi and completed her Arangetram in 1996 at Kalaikoil Dance Academy with the honourable presence of Justice Dr. AR. Lakshmanan (Supreme Court Judge) as Chief Guest, Chit Sabesan and many others. After her Arangetram, she learned her advanced course with Dr. M.S Sarala and widely performed at various dance productions and solo performances under her able guidance.
For 14 years, Devi has learned, performed and taught at Kalaikoil Dance Academy and one of the youngest teachers there.
In between, the academically brilliant young dancer also completed a Degree in Commerce and Master’s in Business Administration and gained a corporate experience by holding positions like Project Manager and Finance Consultant at Chennai and Singapore. Realizing her passion, she did her second Master’s Degree in Fine Arts (Bharatanatyam) under the guidance of Padmabhusan. Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam from Sastra University. Devi is now to share the blessings of art she has been bestowed upon students through Sakthi Fine Arts. Devi’s ability as a complete dancer and teacher has been further spelt out by her presentations and choreographies in many dance shows in Singapore, India, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Under the able guidance of Smt. Devi, the students of Sakthi Fine Arts are regularly performing at various inter-cultural platforms in Singapore representing Indian culture and heritage. The students had received awards and accolades from various dance competitions and festivals in India and Singapore. Her intensive training in practical and theory with the exposure to regular performances and exams instigate the students to do their Arangetram (solo – debut) with the complete focus.
